You've got a point, Bob. It doesn't make any difference, really. But I've also been fiddling with LyX to get it up and running, so wanted to avoid more changing round of packages.

LyX and TeXmacs, what a great combination. Would be great if they were more interoperable. I'm not a TeX expert and have had some funny results when trying to use them both.

Kind regards,
Ryan

Hi,

I was about to install TeXmacs for the first time since switching Linux
distros. But Synaptic wanted to resolve the dependencies with teTeX and
remove the newer TeX Live. I don't usually ignore dependencies or force
installs. What to do?

Kind regards,

I was just considering this myself. Because I also use LyX which
Debian has resolved to be compatible with either texlive or tetex.
However, as you've stated texmacs depends on tetex and will uninstall
texlive in Debian. Although, I was just thinking ... tetex provides
everything I need. So, why worry about? I'm just going to install
tetex with LyX and texmacs and not worry about it. Probably in the
next Debian stable release it will all be changed anyway.

Cheers,
/Bob
