I have repeated Max's recipe from the begining (though not replacing dash),
and editing this time the file control under the debian subdirectory. The
compilation finished without showing error messages, and I have got
texmacs_1.0.7.2-1_i386.deb and texmacs-common_1.0.7.2-1_all.deb. Once
installed, I had a working TeXmacs 1.0.7.2.

Moreover, most plugins that I have tested: Maxima, Gnuplot, Cadabra, etc seem
to work also. The exceptions being Octave and Axiom, for which I have got
a sparked red "Dead" box.

For Axiom, the problem was the compiled tm_axiom. Clearly it could not connect
even though I have set properly the enviroment variable AXIOM. So, I have
replaced tm_axiom with the executable arising from compilation of the source
file
tm_axiom.c that was extracted from TeXmacs-1.0.7-src.tar.gz, and got it work.
No more blue brackets.

Conclusion. I have got in this way a solution to the problem described a month
and a half ago, but I feel that it occured just by chance, and find that it
was
unnecessary complicated.

Regards, Alejandro
