I indeed think that the couple professor/texmacs is a real "must-have". I sell texmacs to my colleagues with this feature, more than with others.

But, the real problem is : there is no easy way to install texmacs/professor/maxima within a windows system. I do use linux and don't have any problem interfacing texmacs and professor ; but since i don't know how to install any of these in windows, i am not at ease while selling this software. I can't say : "use Live-texmacs, or any linux distro" just to run texmacs ...

For the name, i really don't know.

i dont know what is a "qt port" but i guess that a very new version is been worked about

in my opinion, changing the name can be a good idea, and making a sort of marketing operation also
- new name, with not technical relation with the software, but a metaphoric relation : something poetic (i like Qipu, that can be prononced "kipou" in french and does not have any bad connotation)
- new icon, something colored, that you dont forget since youve seen it
- good arguments, good sentences, about the ergonomy and efficienty of the programm
- "advert" operation : just informing the people, where they are

the remarks
- this may be done by a pro
- this necessitates that texmacs really becomes a large-public programm

this last point means for me
- easy to install: download the installer, double click on it, and wait
- general keyboard shortcuts, similar to all the other programms (ctrlC to copy etc)
- keyboard totally customisable as in mathtype (if i want ctrl alt F for fraction i can configure it)
- something more simple to insert images

but, texmacs has a lot much to offer, than this common (but necessary) items

possibility to include maxima (or other..) sessions, and to edit them each time we open the document
export pdf easy (shortcut svp !!)
totally latex compatible
totally wyswyg
maybe i am a littel wrong on these last two points, but, thought, one can say that; that can convince a lot

other argumetns: if anyone finds a easy way to make an association between "professor" and texmacs, i think that a lot of secondary degree french teachers can, if the marketing is well done, switch to texmacs.
