This is a feature, because it corresponds to a common mistake of authors
to incorrectly position the cursor at invisible borders of environments.
In 99% of the cases putting two verbatim environments next to each other is
useless.

If your verbatim environment is alone on a line,
then this behaviour conflicts with the natural behaviour of
inserting a new line.

Maybe 'return' is a bit too simple a shortcut for exiting.
