      I had actually tried pinning it, but the reference I used must

      The apt-cache policy texmacs command was returning (until I fixed
      
      the Pin-Priority for the newer version of TeXmacs to 1000):

      I guess the "1:" at the beginning of the Ubuntu version number is
      an
      
      Epoch number (which defaults to 0), where a larger number
      
      automatically means a newer version.  Why the Ubuntu version has
      an
      
      Epoch number of 1 I have no idea.
