Hello,
I think it would be a good practise to announce the release of new versions
(or subversions) in this list. Likely all the subscribers want to know this
info, at least *I* am interested to know. In the same line, I think that the
page Changes <http://www.texmacs.org/Web/Changes.html> should include the
release dates to let the users follow the changes. I am sure that there are
users that don't visit the website frequently.
Yesterday I was triying to export a texmacs file to pdf. I exported to
postscript and, then, I used ps2pdf. It was easy but the result on screen was
quite ugly but when I printed it, it was Ok. I believe that this is a know
problem. Looking in Google for a solution I found this page 'How to create a
nice-looking PDF file from a TeX file?'
<http://www.physics.ohio-state.edu/~yurh/doc/tex2pdf/>. The author says that
the problem is:
"The standard TeX fonts are Computer Modern Fonts. By default, dvips creates
PS files that use bitmap Computer Modern Fonts. Such a PS file looks fine in
print, but looks ugly on screen. The reason is that bitmap fonts are used
instead of Adobe Type 1 outline fonts (like the Apple/Microsoft TrueType
fonts).
When such a PS file is converted to a PDF file, the resluting PDF file will
have the same problem -- poor display quality on screen, but good quality in
print. The reason is that, bitmap fonts are converted to Adobe Type 3 fonts
in converting to PDF, and Acrobat displays Type 3 fonts in very poor quality
on screen. "
In the page there is a solution to Tex files, maybe it can be use with
texmacs files. I don't know how :(
Thank you for your time,
Javier
