This is what I get in the TeXmacs window

ed Unsupported version of maxima: 5.9.3
maxima]

If I then press Enter the whole Texmacs window disappears .

But in a terminal window I get this

[Jan@localhost ~]$ maxima
Maxima 5.9.3 http://maxima.sourceforge.net

I am using Fedora Core 5 , 64 bit and the maxima program was installed
with
yum install maxima
