No, this is a problem in the TeXmacs interface to maxima.

This is what I meant. Sorry for not having been
completely clear.

Different versions of maxima differ quite strongly (e.g., the transition 5.9.1 -> 5.9.2 brought case sensitivity). So, the script tm_maxima is, basically, a long case statement over maxima versions. TeXmacs-1.0.6 is older than maxima-5.9.3, and this script (in 1.0.6) does not know what to do with "5.9.3". A simplest fix is to treat it exactly the same way as 5.9.2 (no big changes from the interfacing point of view).

This is already fixed in TeXmacs cvs, so, the next version of TeXmacs will work with maxima-5.9.3 out of the box.

OK, this problem is a no-brainer, then.
