If trying older version, take a look to iTeXmacs, which could be found on Google Code.  Its version is 1.0.7.08; it has some tweaking dedicated to windows and has a portable launcher (*.bat) that allows its use from an USB.

I have used this launcher with advanced version of TeXmacs too, replacing the program folder with the new content.

My experiencie with TeXmacs and windows, is that it almost does not touch the windows registry.  If your 1.0.7.06 installation works, you coul try to copy files from the 1.0.7.10 version.  If the old version installed something that the new is lacking, that old file won't be deleted.

And about your questions:

-   About Qt.
TeXmacs for windows uses Qt for its interface and this software works out of the box,
without a prior Qt installation.  Therefore, any Qt installation won't be used except, perhaps,
for environment variables pointing to a specific Qt version, but that's a speculation of mine.

-  Ghostscript.
I have installed too.  It is a must.

-  Portable LaTeX.
I have used it.  There are potencial interactions with the portable MiKTeX using MiKTeX files
from a local instalation residing in user's directory.  But, this should not be a problem for
   TeXmacs at all.

Your locale should not be a problem at all, because you can tell TeXmac wich language conventions should use.  With fresh installs, it starts in english.

One more thing.  TeXmacs create a directory in "C:\Documents and Settings\djnavas\Datos de programa\TeXmacs" and populates one of its subdirectories.  Try to delete the font cache.  I have tested this way and works.

Hello Denis,

I'm confused, because I have a very basic system: Windows XP SP3 (FR
locales), no supplementary fonts, no environment variable related to
texmacs. No maxima or gnuplot installed.
I don't even have the pregenerated font. The only things I could think of are:
- I have some software making use of the Qt framework. Could that interact?
- I have ghostscript installed (to print some stuff from the emacs editor).
- I have a portable latex distribution from here:
http://www.framakey.org/Pack/PackLatex This is a portable installation
(aimed at being used from a USB key.Leaves nothing left in registry).
Could it be the reason ? I don't think so, because on a second PC I
don't have it and Qt-texmacs still does not work.

One thing I tried: I uninstalled the latest QT-texmacs(1.0.7.10) and
installed the older 1.0.7.6 and it WORKED!
I have now the font displaying properly, and also the images! Can you
have a try with this version? Of course this is not a solution to use
an older version, but at least I have a working environment now.

Fabrice
