Dear all,

I think that a comprehensive tutorial or a "cookbook" is not an excellent way to present for a GUI program. It seems better to use some animations. The uploaded videos are good. There are also several alternatives which may need more efforts, like guided tips integrated in the program.

Best wishes,

So I do not think is mainly a technological problem or the lack of this or
this other feature, but is a problem of perception.

After many years of discussing always the same questions and never coming up
with convincing answers, all TeXmacs' developers go back to silence and to do
what is more funny: implement new features and iron away old bugs.

I have had time to think about this and I am able to be synthetic: I think it
would be a good idea to make it as easy as possible to join the fun. Of
course it is necessary to know a little bit, but for example one could ease
the first steps for those who want to write some macros for TeXmacs; right
now it takes some patience (and help from the developers at least in my case)
to find out the necessary steps.
you are right. Actually we miss tutorials for all the basic features of
TeXmacs: write dynamic presentations, write or augment or customize style
files, interaction with scheme and proper use of the graphics editor. Also
tutorial on the very many other “hidden” features like website creation,
versioning, use of databases, encryption of documents, etc…

Personally I do not have specific expertise in any of these areas, but we
could try to think to start a collaborative project to produce a
comprehensive tutorial or at least a “cookbook” (maybe initially) to collect
and consolidate our partial experises. I think we cannot expect Joris to
write them, he is right now quite busy in preparing 2.1.
