I've been using texmacs on linux with the latest version, which has a
preamble section to include macros and assignments. It seems that 1.0.4
doesn't have this option (unfortunately this is the latest available
version for OS X 10.2). How do I include the assignments?

For instance I'm trying to define:

<assign | table-of-contents-text | Table of Contents>

I put this at the start of the document and everything seems fine but
the toc doesn't change.

Just as another aside. It seems that the <hide-preamble | > command is
not available in this version.

The development team is only responsible for the versions which are
downloadable from our side. You should either push the MacOS maintainers
to provide a more recent version or compile from source yourself.

Best wishes, Joris

Joris,

Does this mean that there is no way to redefine the table-of-contents-text macro in 1.0.4? If not, then I guess I'll have to suck it up and update my laptop to OS X Tiger.

Bob
