I saw that it is possible to insert a right parenthesis of any type in math mode, but it is entered using the menu "middle", not using the menu "right".

I think is ok. The design choice is that closed brackets are not allowed by themselves
in math mode unless part of a \around environement. The standard way to create one is
to type an open bracket (which then insert both open and closed parenthesis in the
document within an \around environment) and then edit to obtain the required behaviour.
If you want to type text freely you have to insert a text-mode box inside math, there
you can then use again parenthesis freely, i.e the key ')' insert a ")" glyph.

Of course you can change the behaviour and bind the ')' key to the same
command the '(' key is bound to, i.e. create an \around environment. But I
haven't tried.

Hi,

I suppose that this is a feature, rather than a bug. It seems a reasonable
setting to avoid unbalanced parentheses.

Best,

Hi,

I just noticed a bug, at least under Ubuntu 20.04 : when on math mode,
I
choose right delimiter (to close) only in the menu, I don't get
anything.
And in math mode, with my keyboard, I can't neither get any closing
symbol.
In order to get one, I have to open, for example (a*x+b) and then
manually
delete the opening (.

Does anybody has the same problem ? If so, I'll fill a bug.

Waiting for someone else to comment, I propose this

<assign|rightChoice|<\macro|x>

<math-table-base|<left|.><tformat|<cwith|1|-1|1|-1|cell-swell|<value|table-math-swell>>|<arg|x>><right|}>>
\;
</macro>>

I started from the macro that defines choice (that I got from the
"Edit
macro" menu command) and I moved both the brace from left to right
and the
point from right to left. I do not master yet the editing of macros
in the
TeXmacs source mode, but it worked and it gives what you want as far
as I
can tell. Let me know if you need step by step instructions to make
it work.
