Well, I can only speak English and I am not proud of it. I learned latin for a time at school, but have forgotten all of it.

I agree that it is important to target and focus development work, but I am sure there are a lot of people who are not "top draw" programmers (I include myself in that category when it comes to lisp-like languages!) but who want to contribute to an excellent project like this, and it seems to me that translation is as good as any. I hope I've not insulted the gentleman who submitted the Spanish translation: perhaps he is an excellent programmer.

I think we should not support Windows. It is a waste of time and only of benefit for marketting purposes. The amount of time it takes to work around bugs in Windows systems wastes the time of the most expert programmers.

I wish I could have written that in Spanish...

Hi,

Probably the translator will not like my opinion ... but I have one.

My first language is Spanish. Actually I live in Italy, but basically speak in English
in the Web, etc.

Offer something in non-english ... is really not necessary and only offers an opportunity
to non-english speaking to enter in something in some mode and generally incomplete.

So, my advice is that everyone does not lose time in translate programs, or use things
like Computers or programs in non-english, but just ENGLISH.

All the efforts that hundred of people translating are simple obsolete.

Also to maintain a program, if you support three or five ... or up to 40 like KDE, you
will have a incredible effort for nothing.

This is valid for sales, and the rest. Just english.

I want that people, learn from our mistakes, investing an incredible quantity of money and
time. Just English, and don't lose time in other matters.

Also, the efforts for translations may be focalized in increase, test and enhace programs
instead to change labels, for an eventual new customer[s].

Regards,
Giovanni.

PS. Yo adoro mi primer idioma, mi Espan#ol. Pero es mas facil, ya sea para
quien habla espan#ol aprender Ingles, que para quien desarolla el programa
utilizar, un solo language: English!

Deseo que aprovechen de esto, en no crear mas mundos, si no en enfortalezer
un solo, porque hay un solo mundo.

Un abrazo!
Hello,
I have updated the translations to the menus to match 1.0.0.20. I also made some modifications to improve the translation of previous
existing keys.
Pablo Ruiz has agreed to participate in the translation of the online
documentation. For this to happen, he would need an user in the doc CVS
tree.
I encourage the spanish speaking users on this list to express their
preferences as to the terminology employed to translate the mathematical
result names. These changes have an impact over the document, and I will
try consequently to keep them to a minimum, but feedback is greatly
appreciated.
Take for example the "proof" environment. Which translation do you
prefer, "demostración" or else "prueba"?. What is the standard
mathematical practice in your field?.

Perhaps the internationalized environment names should make part of the
stylesheet? At least I guess it would be good to separate from the rest
all those names which end up typeset in the document. Comments?
TIA, álvaro.
PS. TeXmacs 1.0.0.20 users should simply overwrite
texmacsdir/langs/natural/dic/english-spanish.scm with the attachment in
order to benefit immediatly from the updated translations.
PS2. 'preview with ghostview' is no longer accurate, since TeXmacs tries
first gv... should it be 'preview with ps viewer', or perhaps 'screen
preview' or 'printer preview', or just 'preview'?
PS3. No matter what I do I do not get strings such as "* modifier",
"don't remap" or "caps-lock key" translated... anybody any clues?
PS4. Why not put these files also under version control?
